About the Project
In the field of stadium lighting, LED housings are critical components that directly impact the performance, reliability, and lifespan of the lighting system. With increasing demands for high-brightness, uniform illumination and efficient thermal management, these housings must meet strict requirements for structural integrity, heat dissipation, and precise assembly.
This project involves Die Cast Aluminum LED Housings made from ADC12 aluminum alloy, produced on a 400-ton die casting machine with a mold temperature of 660 °C ± 20 °C. Each stadium light unit consists of eight precision die cast components, including upper and lower housings, with thin walls, integrated ribs, and cooling fins. The housings were manufactured with tight dimensional control and carefully designed features to ensure thermal efficiency, structural stability, and reliable LED performance.
Design & Engineering
The LED housings were designed to balance performance and manufacturability. Key requirements included precise mounting, effective heat dissipation, and a premium surface finish. The engineering team optimized the structure with ribs and thin-wall sections to maintain strength without adding weight, while thermal simulations guided fin placement for efficient cooling. The design was refined to ensure smooth mold release, minimal shrinkage, and consistent quality from prototypes to mass production.
Die Cast Aluminum LED Housing Solution
1. Custom Die Casting
Precise aluminum casting using ADC12 material to achieve complex geometries and multi-feature designs.
2. CNC Machining
Critical areas, including inlets, outlets, and mounting points, were machined to exact tolerances to ensure proper fit and functionality.
3. Embedded Heat Pipe Integration
Copper heat pipes were accurately positioned to guarantee efficient thermal management without deformation or air bubbles.
4. Surface Treatment
Chemical conversion coating, powder coating, and polishing were applied to meet strict appearance and durability standards.
5. Quality Assurance
Multi-stage IPQC, FQC, and OQC inspections ensured consistent dimensions, surface quality, and functional performance across the entire batch.
6. Packaging & Shipment
Products were carefully packed with protective materials to prevent damage during transportation and shipped with full documentation and inspection reports.
Project Outcome
The die cast aluminum LED housings were successfully implemented in outdoor lighting applications. The team delivered components that met strict thermal, structural, and aesthetic requirements on time. This project demonstrates how precise die casting, CNC machining, and expert engineering can produce high-quality housings for demanding outdoor lighting applications.
